Softball Recap: Briar Woods' Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Briar Woods can now relate to. They fell just short of the Riverside Ram by a score of 3-2 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Ram this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-2 loss back in April.

Caprice Bohmer was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Bohmer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kara Yurish, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

The loss snapped Briar Woods' winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-7 record. As for Riverside, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Briar Woods nor Riverside have any future games scheduled.
