Softball Recap: Arlington Beats Arlington Catholic for Their Fourth Straight Win

Arlington extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 7-6 in the process. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Arlington Catholic Cougars. That's two games straight that the Spy Ponders have won by exactly four runs.

Soline Fisher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ceci Bagnall was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Lucente, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Arlington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arlington Catholic only posted a batting average of .208.

As for Arlington Catholic, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly four runs.

On Arlington Catholic's side, Annie Driscoll made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Cam Rose, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Coming up, Arlington will venture away from home to face off against Reading Memorial at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Spy Ponders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Arlington Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Archbishop Williams at 4:00 p.m.
