Softball Recap: Clifton Cubs vs. Troy Trojans

Clifton had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Troy Trojans, falling 20-5. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-1 loss on Tuesday.

Clifton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaliyah Willis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Da'Kyah Light, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

As for Troy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-13-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Troy's side, Ryleigh Amato was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI Amato has posted since back in May of 2025. Laney Bennett was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Clifton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 17-6 defeat against McGregor on the 31st. As for Troy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 12-2 victory against Whitney on the 31st.
