Baseball Recap: Evansville Blue Devils vs. Brodhead/Juda Cardinals

Evansville extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-13 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brodhead/Juda Cardinals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since April 19th.

As for Brodhead/Juda, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games.

For Brodhead/Juda's part, Brooks Malkow tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. What's more, Malkow posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, David Masloske was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Tyrin Foster was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
