Softball Game Preview: Big Spring Bulldogs vs. Shippensburg Greyhounds

The Big Spring Bulldogs will head out to take on the Shippensburg Greyhounds at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Big Spring's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.

Big Spring came out on top against Waynesboro on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run sixth inning. The Bulldogs blew past the Indians 17-7. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Victoria Rinaldi, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Boring-Gutshall, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and two stolen bases.

Big Spring always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Shippensburg ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past West Perry 8-7.

Big Spring's record is now 9-4. As for Shippensburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Big Spring took their win against Shippensburg in their previous matchup on April 1st by a conclusive 11-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
