Volleyball Game Preview: Wausau West Warriors vs. Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes

The Wausau West Warriors will head out to face off against the Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wausau West is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

On Saturday, Wausau West came up short against Northland Pines and fell 2-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-21.

Eau Claire Memorial not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 24, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on Menomonie with a sharp 3-0 victory.

One reason for the win was Eau Claire Memorial's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-21, 25-12.

Wausau West better keep an eye on Ella Staupe. She was instrumental in Eau Claire Memorial's win, getting ten assists and four digs. Cora Graham also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Wausau West's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Eau Claire Memorial, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 18-19.

Wausau West came up short against Eau Claire Memorial in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, falling 2-0. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
