Baseball Preview: Borah Lions vs. Kuna Kavemen

The Borah Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Kuna Kavemen at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Borah took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Eagle, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-1.

Jack Meimann tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Borah is 2-1 when Meimann allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Borah's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brady Robinson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. On the hitting side, Kuna got a big performance out of Tyler Rasmussen, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Rasmussen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Hoagland, who scored three runs and stole two bases.

Borah's record is now 7-9. As for Kuna, their record now sits at 9-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Borah has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kuna struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Borah was able to grind out a solid win over Kuna in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
