Baseball Recap: Sun Valley Beats Porter Ridge for Their Third Straight Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Sun Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the Porter Ridge Pirates 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Pirates two weeks ago, they had to take a 9-7 defeat.

Bryson Thomas tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Sun Valley is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Sun Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robert Jackson, who went 3-for-5 with one run. That's the most hits Jackson has posted since back in March. Beau Green was another, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

The win was the third in a row for Sun Valley, bringing their record up to 13-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Porter Ridge, they moved to 11-12 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Sun Valley is taking a road trip to face off against Cuthbertson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. Porter Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
