Baseball Game Preview: Pinellas Park Patriots vs. Hollins Royals

Pinellas Park has gone 8-2 against Hollins recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Pinellas Park Patriots will head out on the road to take on the Hollins Royals at 7:00 p.m. Pinellas Park will be strutting in after a victory while Hollins will be coming in after a loss.

Pinellas Park is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Keswick Christian on Thursday. Pinellas Park came out on top against Keswick Christian by a score of 8-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Patriots have posted since April 16, 2024.

Jack Inman looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Neil Rothrock was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Dean Ross also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Meanwhile, Hollins came up short against Clearwater Central Catholic on Friday and fell 4-1.

Hollins saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley McDonald, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Pinellas Park's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Hollins, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Pinellas Park skirted past Hollins 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinellas Park since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
