High school football rankings: Providence Day headlines North Carolina Preseason MaxPreps Top 25

The 2023 high school football season in North Carolina kicks off later this month and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams.
Providence Day (Charlotte, N.C.) owns the No. 1 spot in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.
The Chargers went 12-1 in 2022, beating Charlotte Christian 55-13 in the NCISAA Division I championship game for their second straight title. Quarterback
Jadyn Davis led Providence Day with 350 yards and six touchdowns on 18 of 28 passing in that contest. He threw for 3,425 yards and 43 TDs on the season while completing 73 percent of his attempts.
In addition to Providence Day, the other defending state champion in the preseason rankings is
New Bern in Class 4A.
