Baseball Recap: Encinal Wins Going Away Against Hayward

Encinal won against Alameda last Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Jets put the hurt on the Hayward Farmers with a sharp 9-0 victory. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Jets yet this season.

Encinal got a big performance out of Oskar Jones, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Jones a new career-high. Anthony Wilson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Encinal hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hayward struck out eight times.

Encinal is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Hayward, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Encinal will challenge Arroyo at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dons will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Hayward, they will take on Skyline at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
