Basketball Recap: Ogilvie Lions vs. St. Paul Central Minutemen
In what's become a running theme this season, the Ogilvie Lions gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by St. Paul Central on the road to the tune of 81-49. Given Ogilvie's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Minutemen are ranked 361st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Paul Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sasha Ickes, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Regina Williams, who scored 12 points.
Ogilvie's win bumped their record up to 17-3. As for St. Paul Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ogilvie will take on the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mora is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for St. Paul Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Orioles at 10:30 a.m. on February 3rd. St. Louis Park is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
