Recap: Early County Bobcats vs. Eufaula Tigers
The Early County Bobcats''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Eufaula by a score of 27-24. While losing is never fun, Early County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 254th in Georgia, while Eufaula is ranked 53rd in Alabama).
Early County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Astyn Grimes, who rushed for 29 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 97 yards and a touchdown. Tycavion Stovall was another key contributor, rushing for 119 yards on only 12 carries.
Even if they lost, Early County's defense sure didn't make it easy: Eufaula's QB was sacked five times before it was all said and done. Eufaula's QB won't forget Kendarrious Boyd anytime soon given Boyd sacked him five times.
Early County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Eufaula, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Early County will take on Hawkinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eufaula, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Shelby County at 7:00 p.m. Shelby County is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
