Basketball Recap: Clarkrange Takes a Loss

Clarkrange lost against Pickett County back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Clarkrange Buffaloes lost 72-46 to the Pickett County Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Bobcats are ranked 76th).

Despite the loss, Clarkrange still got an impressive performance from Bryton Swallows, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. Swallows' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Pickett County was led to victory by Jacob Amonett and Nathaniel Cobb. Amonett went 8 for 18 en route to 27 points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds, while Cobb went 9 of 12 on his way to 21 points along with eight boards and four steals. Cobb is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Lyric Parris was another key player, putting up four points.

This is the second loss in a row for Clarkrange and nudges their season record down to 11-10. As for Pickett County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

Clarkrange didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 0-0 draw against Gordonsville on the 24th. As for Pickett County, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Pickett County Bobcats face off against the Stone Memorial Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
