Softball Recap: Manchester's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

Manchester dropped their record down to 10-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 5-0 to the North Adams Green Devils. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Greyhounds were not able to get on the board.

Rylie Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

As for North Adams, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

On North Adams' side, Carlee Garrison made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over seven innings pitched. Garrison was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jerzi Tong and Paige Evans did most of the damage at the plate: Tong got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Evans went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Riley Woods, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester will head out to challenge Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for North Adams, they will venture away from home to square off against Miami Trace at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
