Recap: Spencer Greenwave vs. Southwest Patriots
The Spencer Greenwave can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent game on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Southwest 57-22 at home. Winning may never get old, but Spencer sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Spencer got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Naomi Berk out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. Berk is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexandria Berk, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, ten rebounds, and nine steals.
Defeat or not, Southwest got some senior leadership from Mohogany Tharpe and Lonnasha Graddick. Tharpe scored three points along with 14 rebounds, while Graddick. scored seven points.
Spencer is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Southwest, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spencer won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. One thing working in Spencer's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups. As for Southwest, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Academy for Classical Education at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Georgia (Southwest is ranked 350th, while Academy for Classical Education is ranked 354th).
