Baseball Recap: Middletown Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Middletown extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 10-7 in the process. They came out on top against the Kingston Tigers by a score of 6-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-0 on Monday.

Rudy Cherry spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jordan Champlain was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Blanco, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As for Kingston, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly four runs.

On Kingston's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Martino, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Middletown beat the Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.
