It was a good run, but Yuma Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 53-42 to the Imperial Tigers. The Shamrocks were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.
Imperial was led to victory by Elynna Jimenez and Nayeli Cardona. Jimenez posted 21 points in addition to eight boards and five assists, while Cardona earned 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Those five assists gave Jimenez a new career-high. Maddie Magdaleno was another key player, putting up eight points and five assists.
Yuma Catholic's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Imperial, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yuma Catholic will take on Highland Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Imperial, they will face off against Calexico at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
