 On Saturday, the Mattoon Greenwave fell victim to a  tough 17-5 loss at the hands of the Clarksville Wildcats. Mattoon has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Mattoon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Zander Piper, who  went 1-for-2 with  an  RBI.
 On Clarksville's side,  Porter Murff looked comfortable as he  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched.
 At the plate,  Cade Abernathy was  incredible,  going 2-for-2 with two  runs, a  triple,  and two  RBI.  Briley Hagewood was another key contributor,  scoring three  runs while going 2-for-3.
 Mattoon's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Clarksville, the  victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-3.
 Mattoon is on the road again  on Tuesday to play Monticello at 4:30  p.m. As for Clarksville, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  game,  a  2-0  win vs. Henry County on the 6th.
