Basketball Recap: Matthew Wall and Derek Vasquez Secure Win for Berean Christian

After losing to Greenacres Christian the last time they met, Berean Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Berean Christian Bulldogs enjoyed a cozy 76-62 victory over the Greenacres Christian Panthers on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Leading Berean Christian to victory were Derek Vasquez and Matthew Wall. Vasquez went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 36 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Wall went 7 for 11 on his way to 25 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Those seven assists gave Wall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Vasquez, who posted six points and four steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Berean Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenacres Christian only racked up eight assists.

Greenacres Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Rahmello Makonnen, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 22 points. Brendan Daniels was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 11 points and eight rebounds.

The win got Berean Christian back to even at 11-11. As for Greenacres Christian, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Berean Christian has already played their next matchup, a 72-60 loss against Jupiter Christian on the 28th. As for Greenacres Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-65 victory against Synergy Magnet K12 on the 31st.
