Recap: Sandpoint Bulldogs vs. Pocatello Thunder
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Sandpoint Bulldogs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a tough 44-23 defeat at the hands of Pocatello on Friday. Sandpoint's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Sandpoint lost, one person who can't be blamed is Max Frank. Despite the final result, he gained 85 total yards and two touchdowns.
Pocatello got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dreyson Contreras out in front who threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes. Ryken Echohawk was another key contributor, rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.
Sandpoint's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Pocatello, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Sandpoint does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Pocatello will take on Bishop Kelly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bishop Kelly's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
