Basketball Recap: Sleepy Hollow Comes Up Short

Sleepy Hollow was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Port Chester Rams. That's two games in a row now that the Horsemen have lost by exactly two points.

When it comes to explaining why Sleepy Hollow lost, don't look at Lauren Monachelli. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave Monachelli a new career-high.

Elise Thomas continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Port Chester, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 20 boards. Thomas has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. Karah Provenzano was another key player, putting up no points along with seven boards and five steals.

Sleepy Hollow's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Port Chester, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Sleepy Hollow will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Edgemont at 6:30 p.m. As for Port Chester, they will venture away from home to challenge Yonkers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
