Football Recap: Horn Lake Extends Winning Streak to Three

Horn Lake had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 21-14 victory over the South Panola Tigers. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 49-13 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.

Floyd Sinegal was his usual excellent self, rushing for 107 yards and a pair of TDs.

Horn Lake's run defense was locked in: South Panola could only muster 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Sabin Williams for the heroic effort on defense: he. Horn Lake didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.8.

Horn Lake's defense didn't let Tristan Colenberg, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Reggie Fairley was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three himself. Linkin Sanders was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making nine total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Although South Panola took the loss, they still got scores from Carlos Robinson and Tyler Christon.

Horn Lake's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for South Panola, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horn Lake will face off against Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Eagles 15, the Tigers 12.4) so any points scored will be well earned. As for South Panola, after each having a week off, they and Lake Cormorant will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. This will be the Tigers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
