Basketball Game Preview: George Washington Eagles vs. Magna Vista Warriors

George Washington is 0-10 against Magna Vista since December of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The George Washington Eagles will challenge the Magna Vista Warriors at 7:00 p.m.

George Washington will head into Monday's contest out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They lost 70-48 to Carlisle.

Meanwhile, Magna Vista came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Trojans to the tune of 61-23. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Trojans are ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Magna Vista has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for George Washington, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8.

George Washington suffered a grim 67-44 defeat to Magna Vista in their previous meeting back in January. Can George Washington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
