Softball Recap: Atchison Phoenix vs. Sumner Academy Sabres
Atchison stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on the Sumner Academy Sabres with a sharp 15-5 victory. The win was familiar territory for Atchison who now have five in a row.
Kirrah Duncan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Duncan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Jadyn Boldridge was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last five games she's played. SaRae Johnson was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Atchison has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Sumner Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6-2.
