Volleyball Recap: Mica Mountain's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Mica Mountain was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Sabino on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Thunderbolts fell just short of the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Nighthawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 two weeks ago.

Mica Mountain actually scored more points across those five sets (107-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-25, 15-13.

Mica Mountain's loss ended an 11-match streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-8. As for Ironwood Ridge, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Mica Mountain will face off against Salpointe Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ironwood Ridge, they will take on Marana at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
