Baseball Game Preview: Luling Eagles vs. Nixon-Smiley Mustangs

The Luling Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Luling has now lost 14 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 28.

Luling lost 11-3 to Karnes City on Tuesday.

Luling got a good showing from Cade Royall, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Royall has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Luling saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was TJ Anzaldua, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Nixon-Smiley came up short against Stockdale on Tuesday, falling 10-2. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Brahmas: they've now lost five in a row.

Nixon-Smiley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Luling, their loss dropped their record down to 4-19.

Luling couldn't quite get it done against Nixon-Smiley in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 10-6. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
