Baseball Game Preview: New Knoxville Rangers vs. Jefferson Wildcats

New Knoxville hasn't had much luck against Jefferson recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rangers will look to defend their home field against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m.

New Knoxville is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of New Bremen. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rangers have suffered against the Cardinals since April 28, 2015.

New Knoxville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jay Schroeder, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Jefferson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Big Green.

Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for New Knoxville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
