Basketball Recap: Grace Lutheran Comes Up Short

Grace Lutheran lost against Richfield back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Grace Lutheran Royals were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to the Richfield Tigers. While the Royals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 17-8 in the first quarter.

Grace Lutheran's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ely Sauer, who went 6 of 8 en route to 18 points and seven assists. Another player making a difference was Ethan Flicker, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 17 points and six boards.

Sauer wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Grace Lutheran was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Grace Lutheran has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Richfield, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13.

Grace Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Richfield, they will venture away from home to face off against Dietrich at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dietrich is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.4 points per game this season.
