Wellington was sadly handed a loss on Friday, but Mallory Pickering did her best to prevent it. Pickering wasn't messing around, striking out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. The pitching appearance was her third straight with eight or more strikeouts.

Looking ahead, Pickering and Wellington will head out to face off against Independence at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dukes will be headed into this one with a sizable disadvantage in the rankings (they're ranked 327 places lower in Ohio), but they're not letting that get them down.
