Basketball Recap: Roy's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

Roy posted their closest win since November 22, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past the Bonneville Lakers 47-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.

Roy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rihanna May led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Strain, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Roy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Bonneville still got an impressive performance from Ema Eskelsen, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Eskelsen a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Baya Jimenez, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Roy's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Bonneville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Roy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-32 defeat against Clearfield on the 10th. As for Bonneville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 89-27 loss against Bountiful on the 10th.
