Baseball Game Preview: Zimmerman Thunder vs. Delano Tigers

The Zimmerman Thunder will square off against the Delano Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Friday, Zimmerman came up short against Princeton and fell 6-1.

Eli Martin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Delano had already won six in a row dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They beat the Tommies by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-3.

Carter Van Beusekom made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Van Beusekom was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other pitching news, Carson Purkey looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

Back at the plate, Grant Bruett was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Andrew Bruett, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Zimmerman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Delano, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
