Baseball Recap: Priory Comes Up Short

If Priory was riding high fresh off their 9-0 takedown of Jefferson last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Priory Panthers lost 10-4 to the Crystal Springs Uplands Gryphons on Thursday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Panthers, who until this game were averaging four runs allowed.

Matthew Sun was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Kai Aalfs was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Priory was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Priory's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Crystal Springs Uplands, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Priory will square off against South San Francisco at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crystal Springs Uplands, they will challenge Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crystal Springs Uplands is facing Jefferson at the right time seeing as Jefferson is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
