Basketball Recap: Liberty Triumphs

Liberty won the last time they faced High Point Academy, and Reagan Swafford did her part to make sure it happened again. The Liberty Red Devils secured a 49-45 W over the High Point Academy Grizzlies on Friday thanks in part to Swafford, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 14 boards. Liberty is 2-1 when Swafford posts ten or more rebounds, but 3-15 otherwise.

Madison Henderson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 11 boards. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 45.2% shooting accuracy.

When it comes to explaining why High Point Academy lost, don't look at Ella Zhuk. Despite the final result, she posted 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Zhuk a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Ti'Jah Davis, who put up 11 points and eight boards.

Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 5-16. As for High Point Academy, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-15.

Coming up, Liberty will square off against Brashier Middle College Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. As for High Point Academy, they will challenge Landrum at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
