Baseball Recap: Elbert Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Simla, Elbert was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Calhan 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Elbert also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Grant Smith and Caleb Cornell did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Cornell scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave Cornell a new career-high. Eli Cornell also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Elbert's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Calhan, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-8-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Calhan beat Elbert by a score of 9-4 later that day.
