Baseball Recap: Coronado Islanders vs. Christian Patriots
Coronado lost against Christian back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Coronado Islanders fell just short of the Christian Patriots by a score of 6-4. Coronado has not had much luck with Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
For Christian's part, Logan Major tossed a big game, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Major has been consistent recently: he hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Benji Molina was incredible, going 2-for-5 with a home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Farnum, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and an RBI.
Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coronado will face off against Mira Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mira Mesa's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Coronado's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Patrick Henry at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
