Football Recap: Poth Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Poth had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Taft Greyhounds, posting a 69-13 win. With the Pirates ahead 62-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

It was another big night for Major Luna, who threw for 261 yards and five TDs on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 36 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played. Antonio DeHoyos did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 137 receiving yards.

The victory (which was Poth's eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.0 points on average over those games. As for Taft, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Poth will take on East Bernard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
