Baseball Recap: John Jay Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

While John Jay put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Arlington. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Admirals. Considering the Patriots have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

John Jay got a great performance from Anthony Batkay as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Batkay has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cayden Ferris was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shane Driscoll, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

John Jay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arlington only posted an OBP of .286.

John Jay pushed their record up to 13-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Arlington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John Jay will face off against North Rockland at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Arlington, they will square off against Christian Brothers Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Brothers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Admirals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
