Recap: Glascock County Panthers vs. Aquinas Fightin' Irish
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Glascock County Panthers can now relate to. Their rough 49-28 loss to Aquinas on Friday might stick with them for a while. Glascock County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
Aquinas was led to victory by Jack Rhodes and Jim Franklin. Rhodes picked up 205 receiving yards and five touchdowns, while Franklin threw for 352 yards and six touchdowns on only 19 passes. Buddyrow Garrer also helped out as he racked up 111 receiving yards.
Glascock County bumped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-3 Johnson County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.6% over those games). As for Aquinas, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Glascock County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Aquinas will square off against Macon County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Macon County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
