Preview: Keene Chargers vs. Johnson County Sports Association Lions
The Keene Chargers will be playing at home against the Johnson County Sports Association Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keene has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 179 points over their last four contests.
Keene pushed their score all the way to 42 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 88-42 loss at the hands of Throckmorton.
Meanwhile, Johnson County Sports Association was beaten by Fort Worth THESA 70-22 on Friday. Johnson County Sports Association was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-16.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Andrew Montes de Oca, who rushed for 86 yards on only seven carries, and also picked up 53 receiving yards.
Keene's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-0 Abbott and 6-2 Stephenville FAITH (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 73.6% over those games). Johnson County Sports Association has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Keene against Johnson County Sports Association in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 68-40 victory.
