Basketball Recap: Glenpool Finds Playoff Glory Versus Skiatook

It's playoff time, and Glenpool had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Skiatook Bulldogs 67-33 on Friday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 22 points or more this season.

Glenpool found their leader in sophomore Yaya Gibson, who to rack up 19 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Gibson a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Tyra Mckinnie was another key player, putting up eight points along with 12 steals and five boards.

Glenpool is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points over those games. Skiatook has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Glenpool and Skiatook are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Glenpool will welcome Hilldale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hilldale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Skiatook, they will square off against Checotah at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Skiatook is facing Checotah at the right time seeing as Checotah is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
