Volleyball Recap: Tipton Cardinals vs. California Pintos
If Tipton was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Windsor on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals fell 3-1 to the California Pintos on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.
While Tipton had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21.
Ava Schlotzhauer paced Tipton's offense, picking up 16 kills. Schlotzhauer got some help from Kaylie Kohler and her 26 assists. Kya Smith controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
California got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Addison Fletcher out in front who had eight digs and three assists. Those three assists gave Fletcher a new career-high. Norah Bestgen also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Tipton's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6-2. As for California, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3-2 record this season.
Tipton will challenge Cole Camp at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for California, they will take on Dixon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
