Basketball Recap: Greenfield Drops Season-High Score on Caldwell Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenfield). They took down the Caldwell Academy Eagles 97-80 on Friday. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Eagles are ranked 26th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greenfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kobe Edwards, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 13 assists. The matchup was Edwards' sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Braxten Dubose was another key player, shooting 47% from the field on his way to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Greenfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Greenfield, bringing their record up to 8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.4 points over those games. As for Caldwell Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Greenfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-67 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 6th. As for Caldwell Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-61 win against Wayne Country Day on the 6th.
