Basketball Game Preview: Apex Cougars vs. Holly Springs Golden Hawks

Apex hasn't had much luck against Holly Springs recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Apex Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Holly Springs Golden Hawks at 6:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Apex came up short against Panther Creek and fell 57-46. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while the Catamounts are ranked 132nd).

Meanwhile, Holly Springs entered their tilt with Middle Creek on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They enjoyed a cozy 77-59 victory over the Mustangs.

Holly Springs' win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Apex, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-16.

Apex might still be hurting after the 67-47 loss they got from Holly Springs when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Apex avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
