Basketball Game Preview: Desert Scorpions vs. Kern Valley Broncs

The Desert Scorpions are taking a road trip to square off against the Kern Valley Broncs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kern Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Desert, who comes in off a win.

Desert took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 55-47 victory over Palmdale Academy Charter School. While the Scorpions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Kern Valley took a blow against Templeton on Monday, falling 55-28. While losing is never fun, the Broncs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1110th, while the Eagles are ranked 474th).

Desert's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Kern Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Desert beat Kern Valley 56-48 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Desert since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
