Baseball Game Preview: Line Mountain Eagles vs. Upper Dauphin Area Trojans

The Line Mountain Eagles will face off against the Upper Dauphin Area Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Line Mountain has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with seven straight losses, while Upper Dauphin Area will come in with three straight victories.

Line Mountain couldn't beat Halifax on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Eagles took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, Upper Dauphin Area earned a 10-6 win over Juniata on Friday.

Colt Bellis and Hunter Grassmyer were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Bellis pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Grassmyer pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Upper Dauphin Area is 4-1 when Bellis allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise. At the plate, Bellis went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Grassmyer got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Grassmyer a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tyler Minier was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Tyler Erdley, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Upper Dauphin Area's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Line Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Line Mountain skirted past Upper Dauphin Area 11-10 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
