Baseball Recap: First Assembly Christian Comes Up Short

If First Assembly Christian was feeling good fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Senatobia last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The First Assembly Christian Crusaders fell just short of the Southaven Chargers by a score of 4-3 on Thursday.

Ryker Minor put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Henry Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

First Assembly Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Southaven, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Assembly Christian will be taking part in a tournament against Dyer County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. First Assembly Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Southaven, they will venture away from home to face off against Lewisburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
