Baseball Recap: Hialeah Gardens Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hialeah Gardens ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Coral Park Rams. That's two games straight that the Gladiators have won by exactly two runs.

Andrew Gonzalez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Hialeah Gardens let Jose Salazar and Nicholas Ceballos run wild. Salazar went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Ceballos scored a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Ceballos a new career-high. Ali Gonzalez was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Hialeah Gardens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Hialeah Gardens has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. Coral Park is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Coming up, Hialeah Gardens will host Reagan at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Coral Park, they will head out on the road to face off against TERRA Environmental at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
