Baseball Recap: Countryside's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Countryside came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Warren East Raiders. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 win the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Ethan Hawkins looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Countryside's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaxson Contrino, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Chase Hilldreth was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Countryside's win bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Warren East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Countryside will square off against IMG Academy Navy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3, the Ascenders 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Warren East, they will challenge IMG Academy Black at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Ascenders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
