Preview: Riverside Generals vs. Nease Panthers
The Riverside Generals will head out on the road to square off against the Nease Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Riverside is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Riverside was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to Andrew Jackson. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Riverside in their matchups with Andrew Jackson: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Nease put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Keystone Heights 53-14 at home. Given Nease's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Keystone Heights is ranked 502nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nease can attribute much of their success to Audrey Rollins, who scored 11 points along with five steals, and McKenna Owens, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Rollins hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sage Pytel, who scored five points along with three steals.
Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Nease, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-9.
Riverside came up short against Nease in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 41-35. Can Riverside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
